A long-serving Republican senator just shocked the nation. She has choice words for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) about President Trump and could be falling in line with the Democrats.
Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said, “And in fairness, when I heard that I was disturbed.” She was responding to McConnell saying there will be “total coordination” between the Senate and Trump’s White House on the trial.
When Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi finally decides to send articles of impeachment to the Senate, McConnell intends to make quick work of the trial portion of the process — something that Murkowski apparently opposes.
“To me, it means that we have to take that step back from being hand in glove with the defense, and so I heard what leader McConnell had said, I happened to think that that has further confused the process,” she said.
Under normal circumstances, perhaps she would be right to expect the Senate to be an impartial judge. However, as it stands, the impeachment of Trump was nothing more than a political witch-hunt by Pelosi.
This means McConnell is well-within reason to coordinate with the defense (i.e. the White House) and dispose of this embarrassing chapter in American history. Let’s get it over with and move on.
