Texas GOP chairman Allen West made the suggestion Friday that “law-abiding states” might want to join together to form a new “union of states,” or in other words to secede from the Union.
West made the comments after the Supreme Court refused to hear an election lawsuit brought by Texas and joined by 17 other states and 106 GOP lawmakers, alleging that states which changed their election rules through the courts or using the executive branch allowed election fraud to happen that disenfranchised Texas voters.
He said the states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin took unconstitutional actions that had “damaging effects on other states that abide by the law, while the guilty state suffers no consequences.”
“This decision establishes a precedent that says states can violate the U.S. Constitution and not be held accountable,” West continued.
The Supreme Court ruled that Texas did not have standing to sue other states.
