The word around Washington, DC, is that a high-level FBI official could be replaced soon. President Donald Trump has shocked the nation with his recent comments. This is stunning.
According to at least “three sources,” Trump “would love to replace” FBI Director Christopher Wray. Reportedly, the president “has never felt like Wray was his guy,” and the recent dust-up over Michael Flynn’s case hasn’t helped.
A firestorm has erupted over Flynn’s case, in which FBI documents were finally unsealed that revealed officials discussing “whether the goal of an interview with Flynn was to ‘get him to lie so we can prosecute him or get him fired.'”
Apparently, Trump is unhappy with how Wray has played nice with former FBI Director James Comey and other officials tied to the Trump-Russia ‘collusion’ sham — and Flynn was obviously pulled into the political mess.
As noted by the Washington Examiner, “Wray has hesitated to criticize Comey and other FBI officials who are often the target of Trump’s ire” and, therefore, it appears Trump does not think Wray will “change the culture” of the FBI.
In the meantime, however, Trump is deferring to Attorney General William Barr on Justice Department matters — especially since Barr is hard at work investigating the origins of the ‘collusion’ witch-hunt.
