The news just dropped about a ‘removal’ and people are stunned. In response, the GOP has called for action — there could be no delay whatsoever.
A growing number of Republican lawmakers led by Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and Matt Rosendale (R-MT) are demanding that Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) be removed from her leadership position for supporting impeachment.
Earlier this week, Cheney — who chairs the House Republican Conference — announced that she would join the Democrats and vote in favor of impeaching Trump, and now conservatives want her to step down.
“She should resign her position as a conference chair and should not be serving this conference,” said Biggs. “She is weakening our conference at a key moment for personal political gain and is unfit to lead,” said Rosendale.
When Cheney announced that she would support impeaching Trump, she said the president “lit the flame of this attack,” referring to the horrific attack at the Capitol last week — which Trump has also condemned.
But she did not recognize the full context of Trump’s speech at a rally just before the Capitol march. “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your votes heard today,” said Trump.
