Local police said that more than 900 civilian bodies were found after Russian forces withdrew from Kiev, and 95% of the bodies were shot execution style.
Police uncovered the bodies under rubble in the city and in mass graves.
Andriy Nebytov, the head of the capital’s regional police force, said that Russian forces had hunted down strong pro-Ukrainians and killed them.
Occupying forces in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions did the same, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday.
“The occupiers think this will make it easier for them to control this territory. But they are very wrong. They are fooling themselves,” Zelensky said. “Russia’s problem is that it is not accepted — and never will be accepted — by the entire Ukrainian people. Russia has lost Ukraine forever.”
