New York Times columnist David Brooks blasted President Joe Biden’s decision-making on immigration and said it has made the situation worse, during an interview on “PBS NewsHour” Friday.
Biden’s immediate reversal of former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies served as “a big open door signal” to those looking to enter the country illegally, Brooks said.
He claimed Biden “inherited a gigantic mess that nobody has had the solution for,” but that he “made it worse.”
“I think what bothers me…was, it seems to be arbitrary, like who gets sent where,” Brooks said. “It seems like it’s just like, who knows who’s being decided? There’s no methodology. There’s no procedure for a lot of people. And so, we’re just overwhelmed right now. And it’s disturbing that we’re overwhelmed after basically 40 years of this mess.”
Seems like Brooks still seems to want to give Biden too much benefit of the doubt. In truth, he didn’t inherit a mess; Trump had things pretty well under control by the time he left office, and Biden immediately turned it back into a gigantic mess unnecessarily. That’s all him.
