Vice President Mike Pence said during a Tuesday town hall meeting on Fox News that the White House Coronavirus Task Force has never discussed a national lockdown or stay-at-home order during its deliberations.
“I can tell you that at no point has the White House Coronavirus Task Force discussed what some people call a nationwide lockdown, or, as you described as, a stay at home order,” Pence said, adding that the Trump administration and the task force support states that have taken stronger measures than the federal guidelines.
President Donald Trump and his administration have resisted the kind of power grab that we surely would have seen from a Democrat in this same situation.
Former President Barack Obama is undoubtedly kicking himself that he did not think of doing this during the swine flu pandemic in 2009. What power he could have had!
Some Democrat governors (not New York’s) are more than making up for Trump though, placing people under stay-at-home orders with no end in sight and with no regard for the economic damage it will cause disproportionately to their state economies.
