Vice President and head of the White House Coronavirus Task Force Mike Pence said Friday that he thinks there’s a good chance that if people continue social distancing and being responsible that the coronavirus could be largely “behind us” by early June.
It’s [going to] take all of us and doing everything that we need to continue to do to get through this,” Pence remarked. “But, I have every confidence that we will.”
Pence stressed that his prediction would only come to pass if people continued to follow social distancing and other guidelines for coronavirus safety.
“And,” he added, “as the summer goes forward, we’ll continue to expand resources, expand testing work, to develop therapeutics and vaccines and…be ready for whatever may come in the future.”
Numbers of new cases and deaths continue on a downward trajectory even as some states begin to carefully reopen some businesses.
