House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has finished fighting with the Trump administration as the two have reached a deal about emergency legislation to address the coronavirus outbreak.
Pelosi announced the deal Friday evening and the House voted to pass the legislation later Friday night. 40 Republicans voted against the bill because they said they only had an hour to review the bill and couldn’t vote for it if they didn’t know what was in it.
The bill would give free testing even if people didn’t have health insurance, as well as sick leave and help for those whose jobs are affected by the coronavirus.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin negotiated the deal and pressed the House to make the aid package bigger as the number of cases grows rapidly.
Maybe it will help people not to panic if they know the government is taking steps to help the problems the virus is causing.
