Former GOP Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said that current Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is “whacked” and out of touch with reality after hearing that she planned to attack President Donald Trump on the economy.
“This is like picking a granite mountain and running into it with your head,” Gingrich said, suggesting that Democrats might have a decent case going after Trump on health care or education reform.
“To run in and say to them, ‘No, you’re too stupid to understand how bad the economy is’ doesn’t strike me as very good salesmanship,” he said to America’s Newsroom host Ed Henry.
The latest job numbers beat expectations by more than 50,000, and unemployment has been at record-low rates for over a year. In addition, 65% of Americans said they have more money now than when Trump took office.
Trump also has higher approval ratings now than he has at any time during his presidency, and has recently been acquitted of impeachment by the Senate.
