Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just received shocking news from her Democrat colleagues. She is absolutely furious with them now, but the only way she can solve the problem is a path she has refused.
Instead of being realistic about a second COVID-19 relief bill, Pelosi has continued to demand an approximately $2.2 billion proposal — and many House Democrats in swing districts have asked Pelosi to change course immediately.
“My conviction is to actually do my [expletive] job and come up with a solution for the American people,” said Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) during a call with Pelosi. “We have to bring something to the floor.”
Spanberger is a freshman Democrat elected in 2018, but Trump won her district in 2016. And she isn’t the only one who is concerned about constituent blowback — Pelosi continued to get an earful during the contentious call.
Rep. Max Rose (D-NY) demanded leadership “get something done,” while Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) proposed a compromise. “We can wait around forever for the proposal we think is the perfect proposal, and that obviously won’t be helpful to anybody,” he said.
It is clear that Pelosi’s grip on power is slipping and she could have an inter-party revolt on her hands soon. After all, most Republicans and moderate Democrats are willing to work together on this issue. It is Pelosi who won’t budge an inch.
