Pelosi was arrested May 28 after he crashed his Porshe into a Jeep; testing showed his blood alcohol level was .082, just over the legal limit.
The DA said in a press release that the charges were “consistent with how our office handles these cases with similar injuries.”
There is latitude for the DA’s office to charge DUIs as misdemeanors or felonies.
There were rumors that the charges were immediately dropped that led to angry responses from conservatives, but they were apparently not true, since Pelosi will be in court on the charges in August.
