House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) could be facing a felony charge related to her tearing up President Trump’s State of the Union address.
Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) filed an ethics complaint against her, which has drawn a lot of criticism.
However, Gaetz may have a real case against Pelosi. Representative Mike Johnson (R-LA) explained in an interview with Tucker Carlson that the law is on Gaetz’s side.
Johnson said, “A lot of people have been talking about this the last 48 hours, and I did a little legal memo to point out to my colleagues that she actually committed a felony when she tore that paper up.”
Pelosi didn’t tear up a mere copy of the speech, she tore up an official document ceremoniously filed in the House.
While it is unlikely Pelosi will actually face a felony charge for her action, she could be reprimanded. Her actions demonstrated the utter disrespect for the law that has come to characterize the Democratic party.
