A group of protesters showed up at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) home in San Francisco on Saturday to demand that she reconvene Congress to pass an extension of the eviction moratorium.
Congress adjourned on Friday without considering an extension to the moratorium, which was set to expire on Sunday.
The protesters, who were homeless advocates, taped an eviction notice on Pelosi’s door to remind her that millions of people would be facing eviction because of the expiration of the moratorium.
More than $46 billion was made available to landlords and tenants, but little of that money has been distributed so far.
Landlords have spoken out against the moratorium because they can’t keep paying a mortgage on a property when their tenants aren’t paying rent.
