Former GOP House Speaker Paul Ryan said Tuesday during a Bank of America virtual conference that the election was over and President Donald Trump should not keep fighting to overturn the results.
“These legal challenges to the outcome and the attacks on our voting system really need to stop, in my opinion,” Ryan said. “The outcome will not be changed, and it will only serve to undermine our faith in our system of government, our faith in our democracy.”
Ryan also said Trump and his legal team were doing “damage to our country, to our democratic institutions and norms.”
Let’s not forget the damage Ryan and his Republican colleagues did to our country by not supporting Trump’s agenda for the first year because they thought Democrats were going to succeed in taking him down.
In addition, Ryan allowed numerous GOP House members to retire in 2018, which allowed Democrats to take over and eventually impeach the president. I don’t think Ryan has a leg to stand on when he talks about damaging the country with poor leadership.
