Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse (R) criticized Preisdent Donald Trump for his recent pardons and commutations of a few dozen people, even though the president has every right to do so.
‘This is rotten to the core,” Sasse said in a statement, referring particularly to the pardons of Roger Stone and Paul Manafort, who were caught up in the phony Russia collusion scandal even though there was never any proof Trump did anything wrong there.
In addition to Stone, Manafort and George Papadopoulos, Trump also pardoned Topeka Sam, a former cocaine distributor who served a few months of her 130-month sentence but then founded a ministry for women and spent her life helping others suffering with addictions.
Trump has slammed Sasse as a RINO after Sasse said previously that Trump “mishandled the coronavirus response, ‘kisses dictators’ butts,’ ‘sells out our allies,’ spends ‘like a drunken sailor,’ mistreats women, and trash-talks evangelicals behind their backs.”
“This foolishness plays right into the hands of the Radical Left Dems!” Trump tweeted of Sasse’s comments.
