There were at least 47 shootings in Chicago over the weekend, with nine of them being fatal.
Most of the shootings occurred between Friday night and Sunday morning.
On Saturday at 12:20 p.m., a 77-year-old man shot and killed a robber who was trying to take his possessions from his home, which was self-defense.
There have already been 695 murders in the city so far in 2021, which puts Chicago on track to surpass the 775 murders the city had last year.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) has not been able to figure out how to stop or lessen the shootings since before COVID-19 began.
