There were 39 shootings and three of the victims died over the weekend in Chicago, part of a long pattern of dozens of shootings every weekend in the city.
Most of the shootings took place on Friday and early Saturday morning, authorities said. Two of the three fatalities occurred during that time, with the third occurring just after 11 p.m. on Sunday night.
A two-year-old was shot in the arm on Friday while being carried in her mother’s arms. She is expected to recover.
3,083 people have been wounded in shootings this year in Chicago, and 632 were killed.
During the previous weekend, October 1-3, forty people were shot.
