TV mogul Oprah Winfrey announced a new so-called bi-partisan initiative called “OWN Your Vote” aimed at helping black women overcome “voter suppression.”
“We find our nation on the precipice, a true tipping point. Is this the moment that will finally change our country?” Winfrey says in a video for the organization, which not surprisingly features all Democrat politicians including Stacy Abrams, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and top Joe Biden VP contender Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA).
Hollywood director Ava DuVernay and images from Black Lives Matter marches are also featured in the video.
“Our audience has a powerful voice. I am proud to be a part of this movement that will create the change we want to see for our country,” Winfrey says.
Winfrey does have some pull with a certain demographic, but most of them don’t see either presidential candidate as being very attractive. Maybe after Biden names his running mate, which will be female and possibly African-American . . .
