Oprah Winfrey is jumping back into the ongoing conversation around race in America, as she just announced she will be holding a two day televised town hall.
The event being planned for Tuesday and Wednesday will feature guests like failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, and filmmaker Ava DuVernay.
Winfrey said, “I’ve been having private conversations with friends and thought leaders about what’s next and where we go from here. I thought it would be both of interest and service to bring their ideas, concerns and comments into a national spotlight.”
The topics covered in the town hall will rotate around race in the context of the death of George Floyd. The outburst of protests after Floyd’s death showed there clearly is a problem in the American conscience.
At this time it is unknown if the panel on race will feature a diversity of opinions as so far the guest list is decidedly left-leaning.
