Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might be the darling of the left-wing media, but her time in the spotlight could be short-lived.
Ocasio-Cortez got a nasty shock when a report from The Hill revealed that her own party is plotting against her. According to The Daily Caller:
…one House Democrat has been trying to persuade members of the New York delegation to urge a local colleague of theirs from the Empire State to challenge the 29-year old Ocasio-Cortez in the upcoming 2020 elections.
“What I have recommended to the New York delegation is that you find her a primary opponent and make her a one-term congressperson,” the Democratic lawmaker, who requested anonymity, told The Hill.
The report continues:
Three possible candidates have already been floating around New York Democrat circles, according to veteran New York Democratic consultant Hank Sheinkopf.
New York Democrat City Councilman James Van Bramer could be one potential candidate. New Yorkers in the 26th district first elected Van Bramer to the City Council in 2010. By 2014, he became Majority Leader of the council. He is one of seven openly LGBT members of the city’s governing body.
Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t been the typical freshman representative, and there’s no doubt that her publicity-seeking and attention-hoarding ways have rubbed some of her colleagues the wrong way. Will it end her career prematurely?
