As part of his ruling on a Texas lawsuit against the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, Judge Andrew Hanan said that the program was taking jobs from Americans and that it was against the law to do so.
“Even Defendants-Intervenors’ own experts could not escape the reality that DACA [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals] congests the workforce,” Hanan wrote.
The DACA team said during testimony that “[W]ork authorizations and deferral from deportation provided by DACA allow recipients to better compete with legally present workers.”
Around 650,000 illegal immigrants have already gotten work visas through the program, which is now barred from adding further applicants.
The judge also said that other amnesty programs could similarly take jobs away from Americans and should not be pursued because they violate the law.
