New information that has come to light that has led Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to suggest that former President Barack Obama might have known about alleged improprieties by Hunter Biden while he was president.
Buzzfeed News uncovered evidence that Obama criticized the investigation on Tuesday.
“There’s been rumors for quite a while that people within the Obama administration knew about the corruption problems with Hunter Biden, that they warned the vice president, and maybe even the president about it,” Paul said. “I think that there could be a smoking gun, that there’s actually a record of some of these complaints that were going on at the time.”
Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Sen. Ron Johnson and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley sent a letter to the National Archives in November asking for documents related to White House meetings during Obama’s presidency between National Security Council staff and Ukrainian officials, but the National Archives did not release the documents.
Johnson’s spokesman Austin Altenburg said that claims by Democrats that the Biden investigation is promoting Russian disinformation were “unfounded.”
