The Supreme Court just rocked the nation with a major gun control decision. This announcement strikes a major blow to gun-rights activists across the nation.
A group of five individuals and three gun rights groups brought a case to the Supreme Court against the new Justice Department ban of bump stocks.
The new DOJ rule classified bump stocks as machine guns. This effectively banned the use and possession of guns with the modification.
President Trump’s decision to implement the ban shocked conservative groups and the lawsuit requested that implementation of the ban be delayed.
The Washington Examiner reports that although Conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch would have granted the request, the other less conservative justices opted to reject the request to delay implementation of the ban.
This decision has major implications for many gun owners previously in possession of semi-automatic guns with the bump stock modification. Individuals caught with bump stocks can now be charged with a felony and face significant jail time along with hefty fines.
