Attorney General Bill Barr has set the record straight – President Trump was indeed spied on.
Speaking to NBC News’ Pete Williams about the Justice Department’s Inspector General report, Barr said, “It was clearly spied upon. I mean that’s what electronic surveillance is.”
The Trump campaign was spied on – and the IG report is not holding the guilty actors responsible.
Barr went on to say, “I think that there were gross abuses of FISA. And inexplicable behavior that is intolerable in the FBI.”
Americans have been asked to trust the FBI and the rest of our intelligence community with unimaginable power. When they abuse that power they are not being held accountable.
President Trump’s campaign was spied on by political adversaries using the FBI. The people who did this need to face consequences, or there can be no trust in the justice system.
