Conservative lawmakers cheered the Kyle Rittenhouse acquittal on Friday and suggested that President Joe Biden needed to apologize to Rittenhouse for calling him a white supremacist during the trial.
Rittenhouse was charged with murder after he shot three people during the Kenosha, Wisconsin BLM riots last year and killed two of them, but the jury found that he acted in self-defense.
The case turned when a prosecution witness–the shooting survivor–testified that he had pointed his gun at Rittenhouse before he was shot.
There is hope for this country,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) said of the verdict, adding that it is “time to start the lawsuits for defamation by the media.”
“Joe Biden needs to publicly apologize to Kyle Rittenhouse,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said.
