An NBC poll taken between March 18 and 22 showed that only 12% of Americans had high confidence in President Joe Biden’s ability to handle the crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Another 16% had quite a bit confidence, but that is still only 28%. On the other hand, 71% had some or little confidence in Biden.
The poll was taken before Biden made a speech in Warsaw that many praised, but that also called for regime change in Russia, which some said could make the U.S. involvement in the war worse.
“For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power,” Biden said about Putin, in what appears to be an ad-lib on his part, and not part of the prepared speech.
Secretary of State Tony Blinken tried to walk back Biden’s comments later in a press event in Jerusalem, but experts did not think the reversal would hold.
