New numbers prove that President Donald Trump was absolutely right. Millions of Americans are stunned — they never expected this to happen.
According to a YouGov/Economist poll, which was conducted in early February, Trump’s “favorability rating was 87 percent among GOP members,” while Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell took a major hit.
“The poll found just 36 percent of respondents said they viewed McConnell favorably, while 51 percent said they did not,” reported Breitbart News. There is no doubt McConnell’s recent attack on Trump hasn’t helped, either.
Trump himself has responded by calling McConnell a “dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack,” and vowed to “back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First.”
While Trump and McConnell appeared to get along fine while Trump was president, the gloves have now come off and their feud is an example of a broader conversation currently happening within the Republican Party.
Party leaders now that Trump remains popular with a vast majority of Republican voters, yet some are still insisting that the party move away from Trump. This recent poll shows that wouldn’t be a good idea.
