Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) tweeted Thursday that Dr. Anthony Fauci lied about U.S. funding of coronavirus research in China under oath in court, and that he did so to protect the Communist regime.
“Fauci was well aware the Wuhan lab was being funded by American taxpayers, but he chose to lie under oath and protect the Chinese Communist regime,” Blackburn said in the tweet.
Blackburn and others including Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) have responded to new information that came out this week that the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) issued a “bat coronavirus grant” of $3.1 million to the group EcoHealth Alliance, much of which went to the Wuhan Institute of Virology where the virus likely originated.
Part of the information says that the grant included “$599,000 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology used in part to identify and alter bat coronaviruses likely to infect humans.”
Fauci can deny the semantics of “gain of function” research all he likes, but it’s plain as the nose on your face that he knew exactly what was going on and has tried to hide it and obfuscate the situation from day one.
