Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC), who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump for Senate in North Carolina, has a slim lead over Democrat challenger Cheri Beasley in The Civitas Poll, conducted by Cyngal.
Budd had 43.6% in the poll, while Beasley had 41.8%. The margin of error for the poll was 3.95%.
“North Carolina is a perennial battleground state for presidential and Senate races, and this year will be no different, looking at this poll,” John Locke Foundation President Donald Bryson said. “While Ted Budd is in a strong position in this poll, he still trails Republicans on the generic ballot test by a few points, and it’s a long contentious journey to November.”
Not surprisingly, Budd had a double-digit lead among men in the poll, while Beasley leads among women by 9 points.
Beasley has more support in coastal areas and from Charlotte west, while Budd has more support in the Raleigh-Durham area.
