A bombshell about the National Guard just dropped and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is absolutely furious. He has vowed to never let this happen again.
“This is the most offensive thing I’ve ever heard,” said Abbott referring to “the FBI vetting the 25,000 troops coming into the district over concerns of a potential threat from the inside,” reported Breitbart News.
“No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard,” Abbott continued. “I authorized more than 1,000 to go to DC. I’ll never do it again if they are disrespected like this.”
He is right. While there should always be security concerns — especially before a presidential inauguration — he is calling out the blatantly political nature of this vetting process. It is quite alarming.
Using the Capitol riot as a pretext, Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said there were servicemembers present there, but it is “not clear how many were there or who may have participated in the breach at the Capitol.”
“The question is, is that all of them?” McCarthy asked. This brings us to the supposed justification of treating the entire National Guard as potentially violent. Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) even tried to spread fear about troops who voted for Trump.
