Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just made an announcement about her future. The Democratic Party is stunned — they never expected this to happen with less than 10 days until the November election.
“If Democrats keep the House, are you going to run for another term as Speaker?” asked CNN’s Jake Tapper. Pelosi responded, “Yes, I am.” This tells voters everything they need to know — Pelosi will be Speaker again if she wants it.
This is why it is absolutely crucial for Republicans to retake the House on November 3. Pelosi needs to be retired as Speaker forever — otherwise, nothing of significance will get accomplished next year.
The few moderate Democrats that are left have grown weary of her tactics as well. Recently, they joined with House Republicans to demand that Pelosi stop blocking a second relief package for coronavirus relief.
Even so, Pelosi holds onto enough power that should Democrats keep the House, it is a near certainty that she will be Speaker again. The power she holds with the establishment and far-left lawmakers in her caucus cannot be underestimated.
Pelosi even has her sights on the Senate. “But let me also say that we have to win the Senate, so all this discussion of the virus takes us to the importance of this election,” she said. “Vote your health.”
