House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) committed yet another coronavirus-related faux pas this weekend when she announced plans to hold a large in-person dinner for new House members while Democrat governors are telling people not to hold Thanksgiving dinners with family members outside their own household.
Pelosi responded to backlash over the event, saying that it had enhanced ventilation and was “very spaced.” She also said the Capitol physician signed off on the event.
Twitter users pointed out the hypocrisy of Pelosi’s actions and the “terrible optics” of holding such a dinner at the same time DC Mayor Muriel Bowser encouraged people to stay home when possible.
Coronavirus cases are now rising in all states, with hospitalizations and deaths rising at slower rates since theraputics and treatments are more effective than they were a few months ago.
Pelosi’s tone-deafness on the issue has been ongoing; she was also caught getting her hair done in September when salons were closed to the public in her San Francisco district.
