The non-partisan Cook Political Report reported on Thursday that Republicans have the advantage in the upcoming 2022 midterm elections.
Currently, Republicans need to gain just five seats in the House to retake the majority, which Cook’s analysis considered likely.
Eight Democrat seats were considered toss-ups but only six Republican seats were in that category.
Cook’s analysis is considered reasonably accurate in most cases, and it confirms the feeling many in both parties have had about how the midterms are going to go.
In addition, the recent off-year election went much more strongly Republican than expected, a trend that seems likely to continue.
