House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) outraised Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) by almost $900,000 in 2021, and the two were the top fundraisers in the House.
McCarthy raised $13.2 million during the year, while Pelosi raised $12.3 million.
Republicans only need to gain five seats in the House to retake the majority after the midterms, which is widely expected to happen.
Democrats’ polling numbers have trailed Republicans’ for months due to their support for multi-trillion-dollar spending bills that threaten to make current inflation even worse and defund the police policies.
In addition, 31 Democrats have said they won’t run for re-election due to retirement or moving to other races.
