Judicial Watch has filed a FOIA suit against the U.S. Department of Defense and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) regarding a call on January 8, 2021.
Pelosi made a call to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley regarding measures that could be taken to prevent an “unstable” President from launching a military or nuclear strike.
In the aftermath of the January 6th riot at the Capitol, Democrats alleged that former President Trump was unstable and would launch some kind of attack to keep himself in power.
Pelosi discussed the call in a letter to Democrats where she said, “This morning, I spoke to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike. The situation of this unhinged President could not be more dangerous, and we must do everything that we can to protect the American people from his unbalanced assault on our country and our democracy.”
Judicial Watch wants the full call between Pelosi and Milley to believe that Pelosi and the Democrat party are setting a dangerous precedent. Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, said, “If Speaker Pelosi’s description of her conversation with General Milley is true, it sets a dangerous precedent that could undermine the president’s role as commander in chief and the separation of powers. Our lawsuit aims to uncover truth about the call.”
Judicial Watch has a rough road ahead to uncover the truth as both the Democrat party and the Department of Defense will likely not be cooperative.
