Not one, not two, but THREE House Democrats announced they would not be seeking reelection to their very vulnerable seats recently, all within 24 hours of each other.
This means the total number of House Democrats not seeking reelection is up to a staggering count of 23.
Representative Albio Sires of New Jersey, Representative Stephanie Murphy of Florida, and Representative Lucille Roybal-Allard of California announced they would not run for reelection.
Out of the 23 Representatives who won’t be there next term, 15 officially retired, while eight more announced they would run for office at a state or local level.
Mike Berg, a spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee had this to say about the news: “House Democrats’ nightmare before Christmas just keeps getting worse. Nobody wants to run as a Democrat because they know voters are rejecting their push for defunding police, higher taxes, and open borders.”
