Former House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy ripped into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for not removing Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) from the House Intelligence Committee after he was busted for being in a relationship with a suspected Chinese spy.
Gowdy said, “There are 230 [House] Democrats, and you mean to tell me she cannot find a single one that didn’t date a Chinese spy?”
Pelosi’s decision to keep Swalwell on the House Intelligence Committee is a questionable one as it seems clear the Swalwell is compromised. By Swalwell’s own standards, he should not be serving on a committee of that nature.
Gowdy pointed out how Swalwell had gone after Republicans for their supposed connections to Russian actors. Gowdy said, “He berated Jared Kushner and Donald Trump Jr. for meeting with a Russian lawyer — not dating one, meeting with one. And then he berates Devin Nunes for a phone call with Lev Parnas, and he calls the president an agent of Russia.”
Why Pelosi isn’t bringing in someone without baggage to man Swalwell’s position is beyond comprehension. Swalwell will simply invite criticism and allegations of being comprised.
This speaks to a deeper cultural problem in the Democrat party. They are infallible and above the rules and being involved with Chinese agents is of no concern to them.
