A new National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) working paper accuses Sean Hannity of causing thousands of deaths by downplaying or ignoring the coronavirus pandemic from late January through early-to-mid March when schools and businesses began to shut down.
The paper uses models and data to claim that Hannity is responsible for people not taking the virus as seriously as they should have, but their data and models are based on people’s subjective responses and are not scientifically based.
One of the authors of the paper, David Yanagizawa-Drott, also appears to be a President Donald Trump-hater who encouraged protests against Trump in 2017 and 2018 and complained about New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady supporting Trump.
The paper also leaves out much of the context of the time, including comments from Dr. Anthony Fauci and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in late February and as late as March 9 saying that it was safe to visit Chinatown in San Francisco, go on a cruise or attend a political rally.
In all reality, the paper is just an excuse to dump on Hannity because they don’t like him. Bogus research doesn’t mean anything and won’t be taken seriously by any real scientists.
