At least 26 people were shot and five were killed over the weekend in Democrat-run Chicago where some of the toughest gun laws in the country exist.
One of those killed in weekend shootings was a 14-year-old boy, who police say was found in Garfield Park with multiple gunshot wounds Saturday night.
He was alive when he was found, but was too badly hurt to give police any details of the shooting and later died at the hospital.
Through May 3, 201 people were killed in Chicago in 2021, which is 35 more than in 2020.
It isn’t clear what will be able to stop the violence, but we are pretty sure defunding police is not the answer.
