Congressional Democrat Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA) said Tuesday during a local interview that President Joe Biden bears the ultimate responsibility for high gas prices no matter how he and Press Secretary Jen Psaki try to deflect that responsibility.
Spanberger stated, “There [are] a variety of contributing impacts, but certainly, I think the buck stops with the president. And I’m proud to be among those legislators on Capitol Hill that continue to ring the alarm bells about how serious this is.”
It has been all too rare for a Democrat to criticize the president, so it must have taken great courage for Spanberger to do so.
Biden has certainly not helped the situation by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and halting drilling and licenses for drilling. OPEC knows it has us literally over a barrel, and has refused to increase production when requested as well.
Gas prices are more than a dollar a gallon more than they were under Trump before COVID, about $3.40 on average across the U.S.
