Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) has grown tired of taking potshots at former President Trump and has reversed to attacking President Biden and calling on him to fulfill his promises of bipartisan leadership.
Romney took to Twitter to say, “A Senate evenly split between both parties and a bare Democratic House majority are hardly a mandate to ‘go it alone.’ The President should live up to the bipartisanship he preached in his inaugural address.”
It is good to see Romney being reasonably consistent by calling out Biden for failing to live up to his promises.
The Senate is split down the middle 50-50 with Vice President Kamala Harris acting as a tie-breaking vote. The House isn’t much better where Democrats hold a razor-thin 219-211 majority.
Democrats do not have the numbers to eschew bipartisanship, and President Biden promised that he would be a bipartisan leader. So far, Biden has been anything but bipartisan, and everything coming out of the White House has been unpalatable for Republicans.
Romney himself will see his efforts reap few rewards. His status in the Republican party has plummeted thanks to his opposition to former President Trump.
