The Mississippi House passed a bill on Wednesday to ban transgender students from competing on girls’ or womens’ sports teams in schools and state-owned universities.

The bill was already passed by the Senate and is expected to be signed into law by Governor Tate Reeves (R) in the next few days.
States are passing these laws because President Joe Biden signed an executive order upon taking office that would give broad access to transgender individuals in the area of sports as well as others.
