Vice President Mike Pence indicated that he is willing to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration later this month, if he is invited to do so.
Pence said he had not yet received an invitation to the event from Biden or the Inaugural Committee, according to his press secretary Devin O’Malley.
Attending the inauguration of a successor is a traditional way to support a peaceful transition of power.
President Donald Trump indicated that he would not attend the inauguration, a fact which Biden said he was glad to hear.
Pandemic restrictions have moved much of the inauguration virtual, with limited in-person attendance.
