Vice President Mike Pence has declined to speak at CPAC this year after being invited by organizers, according to Breitbart.
A source close to Pence said it was not a rejection of the group or conservatism, but more a function of Pence’s current focus on his family and several new ventures like his new senior positions at the Heritage Foundation and Young America’s Foundation, both solidly conservative.
Former President Donald Trump has accepted an invitation to speak at the conference and will keynote the final day of speakers.
Pence and Trump had a falling out during the administration’s last days in office when Pence refused to reject Electoral College results during Congress’s certification of them on January 6.
It was reported that they later mended their relationship before the new administration was inaugurated on January 20.
