White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany just went nuclear on national television. Democrats are absolutely furious with her, but there’s nothing they can do about it. She spoke the truth.
“They are making a mockery of this process,” said McEnany about the Democrats’ approach to additional coronavirus relief, following their rejection of at least two Republican plans.
Republican lawmakers have proposed extending the full $600 unemployment benefit “for seven days,” allowing Congress more time to negotiate. Another proposal offered $200 a week instead.
Democrats balked at both ideas and are apparently content with allowing the unemployment benefit to expire entirely if they don’t get “a $600 extension of federal benefits through January 2021.”
Continuing to criticize their all-or-nothing tactics, McEnany said, “That should tell you exactly where Democrats stand – against hard-working Americans who lost their job through no fault of their own.”
Democrats also do not understand basic economics. Extending the full benefit for several more months will discourage returning to work because many are making more on unemployment than they would be at a job.
