Three Senate Democrats up for re-election next year have been moved from “lean Democrat” according to the polls, to “toss-up.”
The Cook Political Report shifted Mark Kelly (AZ), Raphael Warnock (GA), and Catherine Cortez Masto (NV) to a more risky position after the 2021 off-year elections yielded many Republican victories in local elections, special elections, and a few governors’ races.
Two blue states, Virginia and New Jersey, moved 10 to 15 points toward Republicans in the election, and a long-shot Republican candidate won the governorship in Virginia.
The Senate is split 50-50 and the GOP only needs to flip one race to take back a majority.
Republicans are expected to have a very good year in 2022, one that could even be called a “blowout” or a political realignment.
