JetBlue announced on Monday that it would require passengers to wear face masks beginning May 4, making it the first airline to have such a requirement.
The airline would also like its passengers to wear face coverings in the airport before boarding the plane.
“Wearing a face covering isn’t about protecting yourself; it’s about protecting those around you,” President and COO Joanna Geraghty said about the new requirements.
Crew members will also be wearing masks, and young children too young to keep one on are exempt from the rule.
In addition to wearing a mask, the CDC has recommended that people also wash their hands frequently and avoid touching their faces.
