Sen. Marcio Rubio (R-FL) said that Secretary of State Antony Blinken was lying when he said that some Americans wanted to stay in Afghanistan following its fall to the Taliban.
As of Wednesday, he said there were 1,500 Americans waiting for evacuation, and that the State Department was trying to reach some others to see whether they wanted to leave or not.
Blinken claimed that the State Department had sent 20,000 emails and made 40,000 phone calls since August 14 when the nation fell to the Taliban.
“The @StateDept admits 4,100 Americans remaining in Kabul alone but claim that some of them are deciding not to leave,” Rubio tweeted. “This is a lie. Taliban isn’t allowing American women through their checkpoints without a male guardian & are blocking non-citizen family members of U.S. citizens.”
Is it any wonder Republicans want to impeach Blinken for his incompetence?
