In an Oregon Department of Education training manual, educators are now being taught that making students show their work in math class and focusing on getting the “right answer” are examples of white supremacy.
“A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction: Dismantling Racism in Mathematics Instruction” was mailed to teachers as part of Black History Month observances.
Grading students according to their knowledge and mastery of presented material is also seen as racist and white supremacist, Breitbart reported.
“In order to embody antiracist math education, teachers must engage in critical praxis that interrogates the ways in which they perpetuate white supremacy culture in their own classrooms, and develop a plan toward antiracist math education to address issues of equity for Black, Latinx, and multilingual students,” the manual insisted.
What ever happened to working hard and overcoming difficulties? I guess they are now a part of our country’s racist past.
